THOUGHTS: 2018 READS

With a three hour daily commute, I seem to work my way through a lot of books. I thought I would round up some of my favourite reads from last year (though not all of these were actually released last year). I've seen a lot of these types of post, which is brilliant if you're nosey and love reading, like me.

Excuse the rubbish lighting - I am rarely at home in the daylight hours these days!

The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy was definitely my favourite book. Educated by Tara Westover is worth all of the good reviews it received (if you're a fan, it's worth listening to her on Elizabeth Day's How To Fail podcast). Places I stopped on the way home by Meg Fee and Everything I know about love by Dolly Alderton were other memoirs which I adored.

What I was doing while you were breeding by Kristin Newman was the book which inspired me to book a last-minute solo trip, and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng was one of the few fiction books I reached for. Since finishing it in a few days, I've recommended it to so many people. I've already bought another of her books to read.

And here's a peek at some of the books I'm looking forward to reading this year. I have started Notes on a Nervous Planet, which I am loving so far. I discovered Brianna Wiest in 2018 and am excited to get stuck into her collection of essays. Mary Portas' book was a Christmas present from my boyfriend, and I had to add Grit to my list after Emily Weiss recommended it. Let me know if there's anything else I need to get my hands on. Happy reading!
